Experience the uncanny with the Center for Women's History!  Join us as we explore New York's fortune tellers: nineteenth-century women who earned their living by dispensing advice, warnings and guidance- purportedly from beyond the grave. Moderator Jeanne Gutierrez brings together Andrea Janes, owner and founder of Boroughs of the Dead, and Marie Carter, author of Mortimer and the Witches: A Nineteenth-Century History of Fortune Tellers for stories of enterprising women - and the men who tried to erase them from time.
